Broadheart by Glow Marrow

The title track off of Glow Marrow’s debut EP is quite epic for a fresh band on the scene.  The layering and guitar work go beyond the typical nostalgic lo-fi and I hear only visionary honesty when I listen.  Brillwave to the max.

These guys should tour with Electric Sunset.

You can download their tunage in all of it’s 320kps glory for free here.

From their website:

Hailing from North Hollywood by way of Thousand Oaks, Derek Coburn and Darin Green have been collaborating since their days as high school friends with a mutual affinity for writing songs together. After incorporating live electronics into their previously more bare bones sound, the duo formed Glow Marrow. With a focus on creating new textures over music that ranges from electro pop to stark acoustic guitar led lullabies, Glow Marrow is an expansion on the duo’s prior project, The Eye The Ear and The Arm. Glow Marrow have recently completed their debut EP, Broadheart and are currently working on a new release while performing throughout the West Coast.

Doing Things by Body Parts

Quirky Los Angeles basement pop.

we recorded this in a basement on long island in the summer, 2010. it explores foreground music (as opposed to background), our obsession with irony, and our difficulty with sincerity.

I Won’t Get You Down by The Neighborhood

The Neighborhood is like an updated Phil Collins.  Songwriter Ryan Dolliver soaks us in sexy synths and treats us to melodies that define special moments.

Stream the debut EP on their bandcamp.  Be sure to check song 2: “Drive”.

Biggest Part Of Me by Ambrosia

I was listening to the best radio station in LA (94.7 the Waaaaaaaave) and heard this liquid gold gem.  Since then it’s been a daily ritual for me this week.  Put it in the smooth vault.

It sounds like a combo of Bobby Caldwell and Hall & Oates.  Apparently Ambrosia ruled the South Bay in the 70s/80s.  Enjoi!
