Betting these kids are fun live. Savannah, GA is an artsy place.
Can wait for their self-titled debut EP to drop in June.
Another hard band to google.
Shine On, You Crazy White Cap by Teen Daze

“Let’s drive to the coastline.”
Sidechain that wave. I wonder which Floyd albums they actually have.
Put “teen” and “daze” into the chillwave grab bucket.
This is “Up All Night” the latest off my “Alone EP”, free download here or you can get the whole EP here.
Enjoy!
play wii mario kart to this.
At My Heels by Twin Shadow

The more I listen to this album, the more I find my self relating to the lyrics. As stated before, lyrics are the last thing I pay attention to. If I had to rank my interest in a song it goes like this:
- melody and phrasing
- groove
- harmony
- dynamics and use of sonic space
- atmospherics (second tier layers, usually subtle)
- lyrics
Twin Shadow takes me to old places I forgot about with his lines. I love his moves.
This track in particular has a chimey, looped beat that could fit on any Summer mixtape.
This kid’s bass-lines are no joke either. Get the album and save a space for it on your 2010 Top Ten list.
Monolith Prep by NazcarNation

another free album from the Bandcamp chillwave dungeon.
chillstep, you say?
Chamber from Down Under: Menagerie

Don’t let these stylish pictures of gingers fool you. Aussie talent Menagerie (aka Max Hardy and friends) is pumping out some serious tunes that fall on the right-brained side of Grizzly Bear and Gamble House. The soundcloud account says “Lo Wave” but it’s more like Chamberwave. Who cares; it’s good stuff and you’ve gotta hear tracks like “Fingers Grow” a few times before you can navigate the soundscape.
D’load this ish for free on the Cloud here.
behold, Max’s hollowbody guitar:

and here’s Gary Busey circa Big Wednesday:

Pillow Talk by Party Girl
This is the description on Party Girl’s bandcamp page for his new album, Heartbreaker:
hey girl hey. a small collection of the most bout to get it on tracks you might ever find. between the sheets. prtygrrrl=raw.
Ambient goodness with swagger.
The track above, “Pillow Talk”, is the perfect soundtrack to morning sun on your sheets. It also reminds me of the song you hear when you board Virgin American flights.
The New Me by Conspiracy of Owls

If you like el Beach Boys, you will like these kids. Highlights include No Hero, Raving Mad, The New Me (audio posted above), and Ancient Robots (video below).
Bravo, guys. Your music is like Gold Bond on a hot day.
Conspiracy of Owls new album out on vinyl and cassette via Hamburger Records.
They used to be in another band from Detroit.
STAR SLINGER // ELIZABETH FRASER [COCTEAU TWINS REWORK]
New track for y’all. Reworking one of my fave bands Cocteau Twins.
Right. On. Star. Slinger. “Heaven or Las Vegas” is classic dopeness. I also dig the slide guitar in the Japancakes cover version.
On a similar note, Dunian used a Cocteau Twins sample in his excellent “Mind Body Mind”. I had to write him on myspace to confirm the sample was from “Essence” off of the Four-Calendar Cafe album. If any remixers are listening, please please do a remix of “Pur”.
