THE BEACHBOYS INVENTED CHILLWAVE.
There has been much talk lately, about the newly minted musical genre, “Chillwave”.
Who invented it?
Was it Alan Palomo of Neon Indian? Ariel Pink? Carles?
All of these seemed like valid answers until tonight. When I discovered this song…

I couldn’t believe it when I heard this song.
It almost sounds like it could be a Washed Out song…

This guy is def on to something.
That Beach Boys track appeared on the Copper Tones: Naturalismo Summer Mix which showcased much of now popular glo-fi/chillwave talent.
It also reminds me of the Untitled song of a live Panda Bear set that circulated the blog in 2008. That song later ended up in a more fleshed out version on Anco’s MPP as “Guys Eyes”.

Is This Chillwave or Glo Fi?
Either way it makes me happy in the way that only Pez candy or an ice cream sundae could.
seems like people like saying chillwave more. probably becuz it’s ride-able. glo-fi sounds more accurate and inclusive.
