baths “maximalist” off the forthcoming album “cerulean.” yes, chillwave, again. this kind of stuff is just unavoidable and contagious during the summer i think. it will be released via anticon records in july.

here’s another bath’s toon.  discovered this one on the Stadium & Shrines Randon Rainbow playlist.  solid thru out.

Pillow Talk by Party Girl

This is the description on Party Girl’s bandcamp page for his new album, Heartbreaker:

hey girl hey. a small collection of the most bout to get it on tracks you might ever find. between the sheets. prtygrrrl=raw.

Ambient goodness with swagger.

The track above, “Pillow Talk”, is the perfect soundtrack to morning sun on your sheets.  It also reminds me of the song you hear when you board Virgin American flights.

Don’t Take Peyote Alone: Broadleaf by Lockbox

Lockbox just released their second album, Broadleaf.

Just have this play on repeat in the far corner of the backyard at your next party.  And see who walks towards it.  Get weird.

Download the album here.

James & Evander, Now with Vox!

J&E are from Oakland and crank out chill electro with their vintage gear collection.

If you don’t have their remix volumes, you are missing out.

Now they are adding some vocals to the mix and the results are quiet pleasing.  Download this split release with chillpop newcomer Parentz from bandcampy (pay-what-you-want style).

winter war by seabright

There have been zip loads of good releases this month, including many leaks of highly anticipated albums.  Amidst all of the madness, I keep finding my way back to this charming and well-crafted release by seabright called dark city.

I like this album for the same reasons I dig the recently reviewed Turning Torso album: it’s honest, flows perfectly from start to finish, and while having a variety of song types, it’s able to have reoccurring sonic themes.

Do yr gf or bf a favor and get this album.

more info from his bandcamp page:

seabrights second full length. recorded in the fall and winter of 2010, the music is centered around analog equipment and instruments.

The collection started as a short EP, but then spiraled out of control as i began to finish more and more tracks. I initially wanted it to be 4 or 5 songs and had specific moods in mind. Once i finished those songs, i wanted to keep going and did so.

I feel like the fuzz and noise are all emblematic of my vision of the fall/winter and they sum up my musical tastes during these seasons.

i hope you enjoy the music. stay tuned for a new release in the spring or summer!

all songs written and recorded by justin morales from october to december 2010.
