White Woods - Beach Walk.mp3

I’m instantly a fan of these guys.

Their track art is on point and their music is groovy as fuck.  Seems like they’re shooting from the hip a bit with the melodies and lyrics, which only adds to the carefree feeling I get when I play their psychedelic pop nuggets.

Dem babies be short and sweet with swagger to spare.

Be sure to check out the “Fantasy Mind” track, too.  The singer gets a little Isaac Brock-y on it.  Swish money.

Download all their ish here.

And, oh yeah, their 80’s yearning blog posts are worth following.  Do it.

Broken Hearts by Summer Heart

Summer Heart is from Malmö, Sweden.  He makes sweet, personal tunes that remind me of a smoother version of Aqueduct.

Here are some words from him about the posted song, which is a single from his upcoming debut album Never Let Me Go:

I started to wrote this song in the end of last summer. I spent the whole summer in my hometown. A real summer town with a lot of tourists and stuff going on during summer. In the end of August everyone goes back and the town becomes empty. That is a really strange and sad feeling and that feeling made me start writing this song.

While you wait for the full album to drop, you can download this single here and his last EP from bandcamp.

Get ready for the new Chairlift album.

These creepy pop sounds coming from Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly have got me damp.  Especially the Juicy-esque groove at 1:54.

And what’s up with this video?  It reminds me of watching old sci-fi movies at my friend’s parent’s house when I was 9.  The house was modern and his parents were never there.

Chairlift is making the slide from Kanine to Columbia on their upcoming (third) album out sometime in 2011.

The Way It’s Meant To Be by Machine Birds

Norways’ Machine Birds craft synth-focused pop that shifts between sexy, sweet, and—at times—a bit evil.  For example, the song posted above is some breakup deal featuring a minor synth line w/angsty lyrics.  It then morphs into quite the “c’est la vie” type of acceptance chorus with sweet harmonies.  IMO, the song really shines from 2:27 on.

Be sure to RSVP to their slumber party:
